I will cut off Israel from the land I gave them,  and I will reject  the temple I have sanctified for my name.  Israel will become an object of scorn and ridicule among all the peoples.


I heard the Lord of Armies say: Indeed, many houses  will become desolate, grand and lovely ones without inhabitants.


But if you do not obey these words, then I swear by myself   #– #this is the Lord’s declaration #– #that this house will become a ruin.” ’


After those sixty-two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the coming ruler will destroy the city  and the sanctuary. The  end will come with a flood, and until the end there will be   war; desolations are decreed.


I have cut off nations; their corner towers  are destroyed. I have laid waste their streets, with no one to pass through. Their cities lie devastated, without a person, without an inhabitant.


Indeed, I will no longer have compassion on the inhabitants of the land’ #– #this is the Lord’s declaration. ‘Instead, I will turn everyone over to his neighbour and his king. They will devastate the land, and I will not rescue it from their hand.’


He replied to them, ‘Do you see all these things? Truly I tell you, not one stone will be left here on another that will not be thrown down.’


‘When you see the abomination of desolation   , standing where it should not be’ (let the reader understand), ‘then those in Judea   must flee to the mountains.


See, your house is abandoned to you.   I tell you, you will not see me until the time comes when   you say, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”! ’   ,


‘When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies,   then recognise that its desolation   has come near.


They will be killed by the sword   , and be led captive into all the nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles   , until the times of the Gentiles   are fulfilled.


‘These things that you see #– #the days will come   when not one stone will be left on another that will not be thrown down.’
