If Cain is to be avenged seven times over, then for Lamech it will be seventy-seven times!


Let the wicked one abandon his way and the sinful one his thoughts; let him return to the  Lord, so that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will freely forgive.


He will again have compassion on us; he will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our   sins into the depths of the sea.


‘For this reason, the kingdom of heaven can be compared to a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.


And whenever you stand   praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive   him, so that your Father   in heaven   will also forgive   you your wrongdoing.’
