So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were going to marry his daughters. ‘Get up,’ he said. ‘Get out of this place, for the Lord is about to destroy the city! ’  But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.


So he went in, closed the door behind the two of them, and prayed to the Lord.


When Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official,  and Geshem the Arab  heard about this, they mocked and despised us, and said, ‘What is this you’re doing? Are you rebelling against the king? ’


I am a laughing-stock to my   friends, by calling on God, who answers me. The righteous and blameless man is a laughing-stock.


It’s not what goes into the mouth that defiles   a person, but what comes out of the mouth #– #this defiles a person.’


Don’t give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs,   or they will trample them under their feet, turn, and tear you to pieces.


He went in and said to them, ‘Why are you making a commotion and weeping?   The child   is not dead but asleep.’


Then he took the child  by the hand and said to her, ‘Talitha koum’  (which is translated, ‘Little girl, I say to you, get up’   ).


The Pharisees, who were lovers of money,  were listening to all these things and scoffing  at him.


When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some began to ridicule him, but others said, ‘We’d like to hear from you again about this.’
