On that day the Lord God of Armies called for weeping,  for wailing, for shaven heads, and for the wearing of sackcloth.


After those sixty-two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the coming ruler will destroy the city  and the sanctuary. The  end will come with a flood, and until the end there will be   war; desolations are decreed.


Sword, awake against my shepherd, against the man who is my associate – this is the declaration of the  Lord of Armies. Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; I will turn my hand against the little ones.


Jesus said to them, ‘Can the wedding guests   be sad while the groom is with them? The time   will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.


But the time   will come   when the groom will be taken away from them,   and then they will fast   on that day.


Then he told the disciples, ‘The days are coming   when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you won’t see it.


Jesus said to them, ‘You can’t make the wedding guests fast while the groom is with them, can you?


He also told them a parable: ‘No one tears a patch from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. Otherwise, not only will he tear the new, but also the piece from the new garment will not match the old.


For you always have the poor with you,   but you do not always have me.’


Little children, I am with you a little while longer.   You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so now I tell you, “Where I am going, you cannot come.”


I came from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father.’


After he had said this, he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight.


When they had appointed elders  for them in every church and prayed with fasting, they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.


Heaven must receive him until the time of the restoration of all things, which God spoke about through his holy prophets from the beginning.


Do not deprive  one another #– #except when you agree for a time, to devote yourselves to  prayer. Then come together again; otherwise, Satan may tempt you because of your lack of self-control.


toil and hardship, many sleepless nights, hunger and thirst, often without food, cold, and without clothing.
