So Joab sent someone to Tekoa  to bring a wise  woman from there. He told her, ‘Pretend to be in mourning: dress in mourning clothes and don’t put on any oil.  Act like a woman who has been mourning for the dead for a long time.


for I was like a docile   lamb led to slaughter. I didn’t know that they had devised plots against me: ‘Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit; let’s cut him off from the land of the living so that his name will no longer be remembered.’


Then certain ones said, ‘Come, let’s make plans against Jeremiah,  for instruction will never be lost from the priest,  or counsel from the wise, or a word from the prophet.  Come, let’s denounce him  and pay no attention to all his words.’


For I have heard the gossip of many people, ‘Terror is on every side! Report him; let’s report him! ’ Everyone I trusted  watches for my fall. ‘Perhaps he will be deceived so that we might prevail against him and take our vengeance on him.’


The administrators and satraps, therefore, kept trying to find a charge against Daniel  regarding the kingdom. But they could find no charge or corruption,  for he was trustworthy, and no negligence or corruption was found in him.


After tying him up, they led him away and handed him over to Pilate,  the governor.


In order to accuse  him, they were watching him closely  to see whether he would heal  him on the Sabbath.


they were lying in wait  for him to trap him in something he said.  ,


They questioned him, ‘Teacher, we know that you speak and teach correctly,  and you don’t show partiality  , but teach truthfully the way of God.


They were not able to catch him in what he said in public, and being amazed at his answer, they became silent.


They will exploit  you in their greed  with made-up stories. Their condemnation,  pronounced long ago, is not idle, and their destruction does not sleep.
