They spend  their days in prosperity and go down to Sheol in peace.


The wicked one is thrown down by his own sin, but the righteous one has a refuge in his death.


In such circumstances, I saw the wicked buried. They came and went from the holy place,  and they were praised  in the city where they did those things. This too is futile.


All the kings of the nations lie in splendour, each in his own tomb.


What are you doing here? Who authorised you to carve out a tomb for yourself here, carving your tomb on the height and cutting a resting place for yourself out of rock?


‘See to it that you don’t despise one of these little ones,   because I tell you that in heaven their angels   continually view the face of my Father in heaven.   ,


He will send out his angels with a loud trumpet,   and they will gather his elect from the four winds,   from one end of the sky to the other.


I tell you that many will come from the east and the west to share the banquet   with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.


For what does it benefit   someone to gain   the whole world   and yet lose   his life?


‘But God said to him, “You fool!   This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared #– #whose will they be? ”


He longed to be filled   with what fell from the rich man’s table,   but instead the dogs   would come and lick his sores.


No one has ever seen God. The one and only  Son, who is himself God and is at the Father’s  side   #– #he has revealed him.


One of his disciples, the one Jesus loved,  was reclining close beside Jesus.


So Peter turned round and saw the disciple Jesus loved  following them, the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and asked, ‘Lord, who is the one that’s going to betray you? ’


Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve those who are going to inherit salvation?


Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death #– #that is, the devil   #– #


For the sun rises and, together with the scorching wind, dries up the grass; its flower falls off, and its beautiful appearance perishes. In the same way, the rich person will wither away while pursuing his activities.


He himself bore our sins  in his body  on the tree;  so that, having died to sins,  we might live for righteousness.  By his wounds   , you have been healed.


Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, ‘Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ‘Yes,’ says the Spirit, ‘so they will rest from their labours, since their works follow them.’
