The one who despises his neighbour sins, but whoever shows kindness to the poor will be happy.


For I desire faithful love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God  rather than burnt offerings.


Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the  Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.


just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,   and to give his life as a ransom for many.’


‘Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You pay a tenth of   mint, dill, and cumin, and yet you have neglected the more important matters of the law #– #justice,   mercy, and faithfulness.   These things should have been done without neglecting the others.


‘Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers? ’
