You could not possibly do such a thing: to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. You could not possibly do that! Won’t the Judge of the whole earth do what is just? ’


‘You speak as a foolish woman speaks,’ he told her. ‘Should we accept only good from God and not adversity? ’ Throughout all this Job did not sin in what he said.


As for me, I am going to harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them, and I will receive glory by means of Pharaoh, all his army, and his chariots and horsemen.


I will harden Pharaoh’s heart so that he will pursue them. Then I will receive glory by means of Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.’ So the Israelites did this.


Even the priests who come near the Lord must consecrate themselves, or the Lord will break out in anger against them.’


And the Lord replied to him, ‘Go down and come back with Aaron. But the priests and the people must not break through to come up to the Lord, or he will break out in anger against them.’


Anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate  them to serve me as priests.


Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, ‘The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good,’ for he thought: There will be peace and security during my lifetime.


He said to me, ‘You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified.’


Leave, leave, go out from there! Do not touch anything unclean; go out from her, purify yourselves, you who carry the vessels of the  Lord.


When I bring you from the peoples and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered, I will accept you as a pleasing aroma. And I will demonstrate my holiness through you in the sight of the nations.


You are to say, “This is what the Lord God says: Look! I am against you, Sidon, and I will display my glory within you. They will know that I am the Lord when I execute judgements against her and demonstrate my holiness through her.

The chamber that faces north is for the priests who keep charge of the altar. These are the sons of Zadok,  the ones from the sons of Levi who may approach the Lord to serve him.’


Then the man said to me, ‘The northern and southern chambers that face the courtyard are the holy chambers where the priests who approach the Lord will eat  the most holy offerings.  There they will deposit the most holy offerings #– #the grain offerings, sin offerings, and guilt offerings #– #for the place is holy.


so that he does not corrupt his bloodline  among his people, for I am the Lord who sets him apart.’


‘Tell Aaron: None of your descendants throughout your generations who has a physical defect  is to come near to present the food  of his God.


No descendant of the priest Aaron who has a defect is to come near to present the food offerings to the Lord. He has a defect and is not to come near to present the food of his God.


They are to be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God.  For they present the food offerings to the Lord, the food of their God, and they must be holy.


You are to consider him holy since he presents the food of your God. He will be holy to you because I, the Lord who sets you apart, am holy.


They must keep my instruction,  or they will be guilty and die because they profane it; I am the Lord who sets them apart.


You must remain at the entrance to the tent of meeting day and night for seven days and keep the Lord’s charge  so that you will not die,  for this is what I was commanded.’


Then he said to Korah and all his followers, ‘Tomorrow morning the Lord will reveal who belongs to him, who is set apart, and the one he will let come near  him. He will let the one he chooses  come near him.


But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, ‘Because you did not trust me to demonstrate my holiness in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this assembly into the land I have given them.’


The one who loves a father or mother more than me is not worthy of me;   the one who loves a son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.


Father, glorify your name.’   , Then a voice  came from heaven:  ‘I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.’


Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified   in the Son.


For both of you broke faith with me among the Israelites at the Waters of Meribath-kadesh in the Wilderness of Zin by failing to treat me as holy in their presence.


on that day when he comes  to be glorified  by his saints  and to be marvelled at by all those who have believed, because our testimony among you was believed.


For the time has come for judgement  to begin with God’s household,  and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God?


‘Therefore, this is the declaration of the Lord, the God of Israel: “I did say that your family and your forefather’s family would walk before me for ever.  But now,” this is the Lord’s declaration, “no longer! For those who honour me I will honour,  but those who despise me will be disgraced.


So Samuel told him everything and did not hide anything from him. Eli responded, ‘He is the Lord. Let him do what he thinks is good.’


The people of Beth-shemesh asked, ‘Who is able to stand in the presence of the Lord this holy God?  To whom should the ark go from here? ’
