A gentle answer turns away anger, but a harsh word stirs up wrath.


Patience is better than power, and controlling one’s emotions,  than capturing a city.


A word spoken at the right time is like gold apples in silver settings.


A ruler can be persuaded through patience, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.


For in this case the saying is true: “One sows and another reaps.”


For by the grace  given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think.  Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith  to each one.


According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts:  If prophecy,  use it according to the proportion of one’s  faith;


Do nothing out of selfish ambition  or conceit,  but in humility  consider others as more important  than yourselves.


So he said to them, ‘What have I done now compared to you? Is not the gleaning  of Ephraim better than the grape harvest  of Abiezer?
