Slaughter the ram, take some of its blood, and put it on Aaron’s right earlobe, on his sons’ right earlobes, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. Splatter the remaining blood on all sides of the altar.


Woe, you destroyer never destroyed, you traitor never betrayed! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed. When you have finished betraying, they will betray you.


Yes, at that time I will deal with all who oppress you. I will save the lame  and gather the outcasts; I will make those who were disgraced throughout the earth receive praise and fame.


They show that the work of the law  is written on their hearts.  Their consciences confirm this. Their competing thoughts either accuse or even excuse them


For judgement is without mercy to the one who has not shown mercy.  Mercy triumphs over judgement.


If anyone is to be taken captive, into captivity he goes. If anyone is to be killed  with a sword, with a sword he will be killed. This calls for endurance  and faithfulness from the saints.


Because they poured out the blood of the saints and the prophets, you have given them blood to drink; they deserve it!


When Adoni-bezek fled, they pursued him, caught him, and cut off his thumbs and big toes.


so that the crime against the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might come to justice and their blood would be avenged on their brother Abimelech, who killed them, and on the citizens of Shechem, who had helped him kill his brothers.


God also brought back to the men of Shechem all their evil.  So the curse of Jotham son of Jerubbaal came upon them.
