When those carrying the ark of the Lord advanced six steps, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened calf.


They set the ark of God on a new cart and transported it from Abinadab’s house, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio,  sons of Abinadab, were guiding the cart


All the elders  of Israel came, and the priests  picked up the ark.


The Levitical priests will never fail to have a man always before me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to make sacrifices.’


They set out from the mountain of the Lord on a three-day journey with the ark of the Lord’s covenant travelling ahead of them for those three days to seek a resting place for them.


‘Aaron and his sons are to finish covering the holy objects and all their equipment whenever the camp is to move on. The Kohathites will come and carry them, but they are not to touch the holy objects or they will die.  These are the transportation duties of the Kohathites regarding the tent of meeting.


Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.


A scribe approached him and said,  ‘Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.’

Moses wrote down this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who carried the ark of the Lord’s covenant, and to all the elders of Israel.


But keep a distance of about a kilometre  between yourselves and the ark. Don’t go near it, so that you can see the way to go, for you haven’t travelled this way before.’


Then he said to the priests, ‘Carry the ark of the covenant and go on ahead of the people.’ So they carried the ark of the covenant and went ahead of them.


Command the priests carrying the ark of the covenant: When you reach the edge of the water,  stand in the Jordan.’


The priests carrying the ark continued standing in the middle of the Jordan until everything was completed that the Lord had commanded Joshua to tell the people, in keeping with all that Moses had commanded Joshua. The people hurried across,


So Joshua son of Nun summoned the priests and said to them, ‘Take up the ark of the covenant and have seven priests carry seven rams’ horns in front of the ark of the Lord.’


These are the ones who have not defiled themselves with women, since they remained virgins.  These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were redeemed  from humanity as the firstfruits  for God and the Lamb.


The Levites  removed the ark of the Lord, along with the box containing the gold objects, and placed them on the large rock. That day the people of Beth-shemesh offered burnt offerings and made sacrifices to the Lord.
