The Canaanite border went from Sidon going towards Gerar as far as Gaza, and going towards Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim as far as Lasha.


At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon  in a dream at night.  God said, ‘Ask.  What should I give you? ’


Ashkelon will see it and be afraid; Gaza too, and will writhe in great pain, as will Ekron, for her hope will fail. There will cease to be a king in Gaza, and Ashkelon will become uninhabited.


The men went back to Moses, Aaron, and the entire Israelite community in the Wilderness of Paran at Kadesh. They brought back a report for them and the whole community, and they showed them the fruit of the land.


That’s what your ancestors did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.


Your border will turn south of the Scorpions’ Ascent,  proceed to Zin, and end south of Kadesh-barnea. It will go to Hazar-addar and proceed to Azmon.


An angel of the Lord spoke to Philip: ‘Get up and go south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.’ (This is the desert road.  ,)


‘We then set out from Horeb and went across all the great and terrible wilderness you saw on the way to the hill country of the Amorites, just as the Lord our God had commanded us. When we reached Kadesh-barnea,

When the Lord sent you from Kadesh-barnea, he said, “Go up and possess the land I have given you”; you rebelled against the command of the Lord your God. You did not believe or obey him.


On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the Lord in the presence of Israel: ‘Sun,  stand still over Gibeon, and moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.’


So Adoni-zedek and his people were  greatly alarmed because Gibeon was a large city like one of the royal cities;  it was larger than Ai, and all its men were warriors.


So Joshua took all this land #– #the hill country, all the Negev, all the land of Goshen,  the foothills, the Arabah, and the hill country of Israel with its foothills #– #


No Anakim were left in the land of the Israelites, except for some remaining in Gaza, Gath,  and Ashdod.


Goshen, Holon, and Giloh #– #eleven cities, with their settlements;


Samson went to Gaza,  where he saw a prostitute and went to bed with her.


The Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes. They brought him down to Gaza and bound him with bronze shackles, and he was forced to grind grain in the prison.


As a guilt offering to the Lord, the Philistines had sent back one gold tumour for each city:  Ashdod, Gaza, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron.
