He rushes headlong at him with his thick, studded shields.


God hands me over to the unjust; he throws me to the wicked.


God has made my heart faint; the Almighty has terrified me.


when his lamp shone above my head, and I walked through darkness by his light!


I cannot relax or be calm; I have no rest,  for turmoil has come.


The lion may roar and the fierce lion   growl, but the teeth of young lions are broken.


Surely the arrows of the Almighty have pierced   me; my spirit drinks their poison. God’s terrors are arrayed against me.


Am I the sea  , or a sea monster, that you keep me under guard?


If I have sinned, what have I done to you, Watcher of humanity? Why have you made me your target, so that I have become a burden to you?


He batters me with a whirlwind and multiplies my wounds without cause.


Yes, he repeatedly turns his hand against me all day long.


He has worn away my flesh and skin; he has broken my bones.


When Israel grasped you by the hand, you splintered,  tearing all their shoulders; when they leaned on you, you shattered and made all their hips unsteady.


Whoever falls on this stone will be broken to pieces;   but on whomever it falls, it will shatter him.’


who risked their own necks for my life. Not only do I thank them, but so do all the Gentile churches.
