may you hear their prayer and petitions in heaven, your dwelling place, and uphold their cause. May you forgive your people who sinned against you.


But I know that my Redeemer lives,  , and at the end he will stand on the dust.


‘Therefore tell the Israelites: I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from the forced labour of the Egyptians and rescue you from slavery to them. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm  and great acts of judgement.


for the Lord will champion their cause and will plunder those who plunder them.


for their Redeemer is strong, and he will champion their cause against you.


Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you men  of Israel. I will help you’ – this is the  Lord’s declaration. Your Redeemer  is the Holy One of Israel.


This is what the Lord, your Redeemer,  the Holy One of Israel  says: Because of you, I will send an army  to Babylon and bring all of them as fugitives, even the Chaldeans  in the ships in which they rejoice.


This is what the Lord, the King of Israel and its Redeemer,  the Lord of Armies, says: I am the first and I am the last. There is no God but me.


The Holy One of Israel is our Redeemer; The Lord of Armies is his name.


For this is what the  Lord  says: ‘Even the captives of a mighty man will be taken, and the prey of a tyrant will be delivered; I will contend with the one who contends with you, and I will save your children.


This is what your Lord says – the Lord, even your God, who defends his people   – ‘Look, I have removed from your hand the cup that causes staggering; that goblet, the cup of my fury. You will never drink it again.


Indeed, your husband is your Maker   – his name is the Lord  of Armies – and the Holy One of Israel  is your Redeemer; he is called the God of the whole earth.


Jacob’s Portion  is not like these, because he is the one who formed all things. Israel is the tribe of his inheritance; the Lord of Armies is his name.


I will rescue you from the power of evil people and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless.


His children will be as in past days; his congregation will be established in my presence. I will punish all his oppressors.


for the Lord has ransomed Jacob and redeemed him from the power of one who is stronger than he is.’


‘This is what the Lord says: The one who gives the sun for light by day, the fixed order of moon and stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea and makes its waves roar   – the Lord of Armies is his name:


You show faithful love to thousands but lay the fathers’ iniquity on their sons’ laps after them,  great and mighty God  whose name is the Lord of Armies,


The destroyer of Moab and its towns has come up, and the best of its young men have gone down to slaughter. This is the King’s declaration; the Lord of Armies is his name.


Jacob’s Portion  is not like these, because he is the one who formed all things. Israel is the tribe of his inheritance; the Lord of Armies is his name.


Therefore, this is what the Lord says: I am about to champion your cause and take vengeance on your behalf; I will dry up her sea and make her fountain run dry.


You championed my cause, Lord; you redeemed my life.


The Lord makes his voice heard in the presence of his army. His camp is very large; those who carry out his command are powerful. Indeed, the day of the Lord is terrible and dreadful   – who can endure it?


Writhe and cry out,  , Daughter Zion, like a woman in labour, for now you will leave the city and camp in the open fields. You will go to Babylon; there you will be rescued; there the Lord will redeem you from the grasp of your enemies!


Because I have sinned against him, I must endure the  Lord’s fury until he champions my cause and establishes justice for me. He will bring me into the light; I will see his salvation.  ,


For this reason her plagues will come in just one day – death and grief and famine. She will be burned up with fire, because the Lord God who judges   her is mighty.
