He replied, ‘I have been very zealous  for the Lord God of Armies, but the Israelites have abandoned your covenant,  torn down your altars,  and killed your prophets  with the sword. I alone am left,  and they are looking for me to take my life.’


For the eyes of the Lord roam throughout the earth  to show himself strong for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to him.  You have been foolish in this matter. Therefore, you will have wars from now on.’


Many a person proclaims his own loyalty, but who can find a trustworthy person?


Buy #– #and do not sell #– #truth, wisdom, instruction, and understanding.


Beside the gates  leading into the city, at the main entrance, she cries out:


I will arise now and go about the city, through the streets and the squares. I will seek the one I love. I sought him, but did not find him.


No one makes claims justly; no one pleads honestly. They trust in empty and worthless words; they conceive trouble and give birth to iniquity.


Why do you bring a case against me? All of you have rebelled against me. This is the  Lord’s declaration.


However, all the men who knew that their wives were burning incense to other gods, all the women standing by #– #a great assembly #– #and all the people who were living in the land of Egypt at Pathros answered Jeremiah,


I have paid careful attention. They do not speak what is right. No one regrets his evil, asking, “What have I done? ” Everyone has stayed his course like a horse rushing into battle.


If only I had a traveller’s lodging place in the wilderness, I would abandon my people and depart from them, for they are all adulterers, a solemn assembly of treacherous people.


Therefore, this is what the Lord of Armies says: I am about to refine them and test them, for what else can I do because of my dear   people?


I searched for a man among them who would repair the wall  and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land so that I might not destroy it,  but I found no one.


He answered me, ‘The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is extremely great; the land is full of bloodshed,  and the city full of perversity. For they say, “The Lord has abandoned the land;  he does not see.”


‘But you, Daniel, keep these words secret  and seal the book  until the time of the end.  Many will roam about,  and knowledge will increase.’


They storm the city; they run on the wall; they climb into the houses; they enter through the windows like thieves.


People will stagger from sea to sea and roam from north to east seeking the word of the  Lord, but they will not find it.


He said to him, ‘Run and tell this young man: Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the number of people and animals in it.’


‘So the servant came back and reported these things to his master. Then in anger, the master of the house told his servant, “Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the city, and bring in here the poor, maimed, blind, and lame.”


and with every wicked deception among those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth and so be saved.
