I will send him against a godless nation; I will command him to go against a people destined for my rage, to take spoils, to plunder, and to trample them down like clay  in the streets.


I have commanded my consecrated ones; yes, I have called my warriors, who celebrate my triumph, to execute my wrath.


Have you not heard? I designed it long ago; I planned it in days gone by. I have now brought it to pass, and you have crushed fortified cities into piles of rubble.


The one who does the  Lord’s business deceitfully  is cursed, and the one who withholds his sword from bloodshed is cursed.


‘Or suppose I bring a sword  against that land and say, “Let a sword pass through it,” so that I wipe out both people and animals from it.


‘So you, son of man, prophesy and clap your hands together: Let the sword strike twice, even three times. It is a sword for massacre, a sword for great massacre – it surrounds  them!


‘ “Return it to its sheath! ‘ “I will judge you in the place where you were created, in the land of your origin.


‘Son of man, prophesy, “This is what the Lord says! ” You are to proclaim, “A sword!  A sword is sharpened and also polished.


therefore this is what the Lord God says: I am about to stretch out my hand against the Philistines,  cutting off the Cherethites and wiping out what remains of the coastal peoples.  ,


If a ram’s horn  is blown in a city, aren’t people afraid? If a disaster  occurs in a city, hasn’t the Lord done it?


The voice of the Lord calls out to the city (and it is wise to fear your name): ‘Pay attention to the rod and the one who ordained it.


Now go and attack the Amalekites and completely destroy everything they have.  Do not spare them. Kill men and women, infants and nursing babies, oxen and sheep, camels and donkeys.” ’
