10 As for you, my servant Jacob, do not be afraid – this is the  Lord’s declaration – and do not be discouraged, Israel, for without fail I will save you out of a distant place, your descendants from the land of their captivity! Jacob will return and have calm and quiet with no one to frighten him.

After these events, the word of the Lord came  to Abram in a vision: Do not be afraid,  Abram. I am your shield; your reward will be very great.


When the Lord gives you rest from your pain,  torment, and the hard labour  you were forced to do,


There will be no lion there, and no vicious beast will go up on it; they will not be found there. But the redeemed will walk on it,


Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east, and gather you from the west.


‘And now listen, Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen.


This is the word of the  Lord your Maker, the one who formed you from the womb: He will help you. Do not fear, Jacob my servant, Jeshurun  whom I have chosen.


I call a bird of prey  from the east, a man for my purpose from a far country. Yes, I have spoken; so I will also bring it about. I have planned it; I will also do it.


I am bringing my justice near; it is not far away, and my salvation will not delay. I will put salvation in Zion, my splendour in Israel.


See, these will come from far away, from the north and from the west,  , and from the land of Sinim.  ,


For this is what the  Lord  says: ‘Even the captives of a mighty man will be taken, and the prey of a tyrant will be delivered; I will contend with the one who contends with you, and I will save your children.


‘Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to shame; don’t be humiliated, for you will not be disgraced. For you will forget the shame of your youth, and you will no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood.


‘I will gather the remnant of my flock from all the lands where I have banished them,  and I will return them to their grazing land. They will become fruitful and numerous.


I will raise up shepherds over them who will tend them.  They will no longer be afraid or discouraged, nor will any be missing.’  This is the Lord’s declaration.


In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. This is the name he will be called: The Lord Is Our Righteousness.  ,


but, “As the Lord lives, who brought and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the land of the north and from all the other countries where I  had banished them.” They will dwell once more in their own land.’


For I know the plans I have for you’   #– #this is the Lord’s declaration #– #‘plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.


I will be found by you’ #– #this is the Lord’s declaration #– #‘and I will restore your fortunes  , and gather you from all the nations and places where I banished you’ #– #this is the Lord’s declaration. ‘I will restore you to the place from which I deported you.’


In those days the house of Judah will join with the house of Israel,  and they will come together from the land of the north to the land I have given your ancestors to inherit.” ’


for look, the days are coming’ #– #this is the Lord’s declaration #– #‘when I will restore the fortunes  of my people Israel and Judah,’  says the Lord. ‘I will restore them to the land I gave to their ancestors and they will possess it.’


How awful that day will be! There will be no other like it! It will be a time of trouble for Jacob, but he will be saved out of it.


In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely, and this is what she will be named: The Lord Is Our Righteousness.


You must also bear your disgrace, since you have helped your sisters.  For they appear more righteous than you because of your sins, which you committed more detestably than they did. So you also, be ashamed and bear your disgrace, since you have made your sisters appear righteous.


You will say, ‘I will advance against a land of open villages; I will come against a tranquil people who are living securely,  all of them living without walls and without bars or gates’   #– #


At that time Michael,  the great prince who stands watch over your people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress such as never has occurred since nations came into being until that time. But at that time all your people who are found written in the book  will escape.


On that day I will make a covenant for them with the wild animals, the birds of the sky, and the creatures that crawl on the ground. I will shatter bow, sword, and weapons of war in the land  , and will enable the people to rest securely.


I will take you to be my wife in faithfulness, and you will know the Lord.


A harvest is also appointed for you, Judah. When I restore the fortunes of my people,


Don’t be afraid, land; rejoice and be glad, for the Lord has done astonishing things.


Now, why are you shouting loudly? Is there no king with you? Has your counsellor perished, so that anguish grips you like a woman in labour?


On that day, each of you will invite his neighbour to sit under his vine and fig tree.’  This is the declaration of the Lord of Armies.


Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion. Look, your King is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt.   ,
