but sought the God of his father and walked by his commands, not according to the practices of Israel.


You will be righteous, Lord, even if I bring a case against you. Yet I wish to contend with you: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the treacherous live at ease?


‘Have you not noticed what these people have said? They say, “The Lord has rejected the two families he had chosen.”  My people are treated with contempt and no longer regarded as a nation among them.


They, the house of Israel and the house of Judah, have dealt very treacherously with me. This is the  Lord’s declaration.


Your elder sister was Samaria,  who lived with her daughters to the north of you, and your younger sister was Sodom, who lived with her daughters to the south of you.


Didn’t you walk in their ways and do their detestable practices? It was only a short time before all your ways were more corrupt than theirs.


My people are bent on turning from me. Though they call to him on high, he will not exalt them at all.


Israel, return to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled in your iniquity.


Two or three cities staggered to another city to drink water but were not satisfied, yet you did not return  to me. This is the  Lord’s declaration.


Judah has acted treacherously, and a detestable  act has been done in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah has profaned  the Lord’s sanctuary,  , which he loves,  and has married the daughter of a foreign god.  ,
