‘Come, gather together, and approach, you fugitives of the nations. Those who carry their wooden idols and pray to a god who cannot save have no knowledge.

This is what the  Lord  says: What fault did your ancestors find in me that they went so far from me, followed worthless idols, and became worthless themselves?

You must keep my instruction to not do any of the detestable customs  that were practised before you, so that you do not defile yourselves by them; I am the Lord your God.’

When you pray, don’t babble like the Gentiles, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words.

You see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in almost all of Asia, this man Paul has persuaded and misled a considerable number of people by saying that gods made by hand are not gods.

For though they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became worthless, and their senseless hearts were darkened.

For you know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life  inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold,
