from those who abandon the right paths to walk in ways of darkness,


whose paths are crooked, and whose ways are devious.


A guilty one’s conduct is crooked, but the behaviour of the innocent is upright.


The one who lives with integrity will be helped, but one who distorts right and wrong will suddenly fall.


Her ways are pleasant, and all her paths, peaceful.


‘There is no peace for the wicked,’ says the  Lord.


For the vineyard of the  Lord of Armies is the house of Israel, and the men  of Judah, the plant he delighted in. He expected justice but saw injustice; he expected righteousness but heard cries of despair.


We all growl like bears and moan like doves. We hope for justice, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far from us.


Therefore justice is far from us, and righteousness does not reach us. We hope for light, but there is darkness; for brightness, but we live in the night.


I spread out my hands all day long to a rebellious people who walk in the path that is not good, following their own thoughts.


Roam  through the streets of Jerusalem. Investigate; search in her squares. If you find one person, any who acts justly, who pursues faithfulness, then I will forgive her.


‘Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You pay a tenth of   mint, dill, and cumin, and yet you have neglected the more important matters of the law #– #justice,   mercy, and faithfulness.   These things should have been done without neglecting the others.


to shine on those who live in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.


and the path of peace they have not known.   ,
