Come, let’s go down there and confuse their language so that they will not understand one another’s speech.’


Therefore, this is what the  Lord says about the king of Assyria: He will not enter this city, shoot an arrow here, come before it with a shield, or build up a siege ramp against it.


But Moses said to the people, ‘Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and see  the Lord’s salvation that he will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again.


For he will speak to this people with stammering speech and in a foreign language.


He will go back the way he came, and he will not enter this city. This is the Lord’s declaration.


So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and left. He returned home and lived in Nineveh.


I am about to bring a nation from far away against you, house of Israel. This is the  Lord’s declaration. It is an established nation, an ancient nation, a nation whose language you do not know and whose speech you do not understand.


It is written in the law, I will speak to this people by people of other tongues and by the lips of foreigners, and even then, they will not listen to me,   , says the Lord.
