Because of all this, I am about to bring disaster on the house of Jeroboam: I will wipe out all of Jeroboam’s males, both slave and free,  in Israel; I will sweep away the house of Jeroboam as one sweeps away dung until it is all gone!


I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring line used on Samaria and the mason’s level used on the house of Ahab,  and I will wipe  Jerusalem clean as one wipes a bowl #– #wiping it and turning it upside down.


It will never be inhabited or lived in from generation to generation; a nomad will not pitch his tent there, and shepherds will not let their flocks rest there.


Wail! For the day of the  Lord is near. It will come as destruction from the Almighty.


A pronouncement  concerning the desert by the sea: Like storms that pass over the Negev, it comes from the desert, from the land of terror.


Come against her from the most distant places. Open her granaries; pile her up like mounds of grain and completely destroy her. Leave her no survivors.


For a nation from the north will attack her; it will make her land desolate. No one will be living in it – both people and animals will escape.  ,


Say, “Lord, you have threatened to cut off  this place so that no one will live in it #– #people or animals.  Indeed, it will remain desolate for ever.”


Herds will lie down in the middle of it, every kind of wild animal. Both eagle owls  and herons will roost in the capitals of its pillars. Their calls will sound  from the window, but devastation  will be on the threshold, for he will expose the cedar work.


And another, a second angel, followed, saying, ‘It has fallen, Babylon the Great  has fallen.  She made all the nations drink the wine of her sexual immorality,  which brings wrath.’


He called out in a mighty voice: It has fallen, Babylon the Great has fallen! She has become a home for demons, a haunt for every unclean spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, and a haunt  for every unclean and despicable beast.  ,
