That night the angel of the Lord went out and struck down one hundred and eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning #– #there were all the dead bodies!


The one who sows injustice will reap disaster, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed.


Woe to Assyria, the rod of my anger – the staff in their hands is my wrath.


Wail! For the day of the  Lord is near. It will come as destruction from the Almighty.


Go, my people, enter your rooms and close your doors behind you. Hide for a little while until the wrath has passed.


‘I deserted you for a brief moment, but I will take you back with abundant compassion.


‘Then the king will do whatever he wants.  He will exalt and magnify himself above every god,  and he will say outrageous things against the God of gods.  He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed,  because what has been decreed will be accomplished.


For the Lord of Armies says this: ‘Once more, in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth,  the sea and the dry land.


For yet in a very little while, the Coming One will come and not delay.
