David was sitting between the city gates  when the watchman went up to the roof of the city gate and over to the wall.  The watchman looked out and saw a man running alone.


The Israelites secretly did things  against the Lord their God that were not right. They built high places in all their towns from watchtower  to fortified city.


Now the watchman  was standing on the tower in Jezreel. He saw Jehu’s mob approaching and shouted, ‘I see a mob! ’ Joram responded, ‘Choose a rider and send him to meet them and to ask, “Do you come in peace? ” ’


If only I had someone to hear my case! Here is my signature; let the Almighty answer me. Let my Opponent compose his indictment.


I would give him an account of all my steps; I would approach him like a prince.


Prepare a table,  and spread out a carpet! Eat and drink! Rise up, you princes, and oil the shields!


For the Lord has said to me, ‘Go, post a lookout; let him report what he sees.


Then the lookout  reported, ‘Lord, I stand on the watchtower all day, and I stay at my post all night.


Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen on your walls; they will never be silent, day or night. There is no rest for you, who remind the  Lord.


You will be righteous, Lord, even if I bring a case against you. Yet I wish to contend with you: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the treacherous live at ease?


I appointed watchmen over you and said, ‘Listen for the sound of the ram’s horn.’ But they protested, ‘We won’t listen! ’


‘Son of man, I have made you a watchman over the house of Israel.  When you hear a word from my mouth, give them a warning from me.


‘As for you, son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel.  When you hear a word from my mouth, give them a warning from me.


But I will look to the  Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.


since you seek proof of Christ speaking in me.  He is not weak in dealing with you, but powerful among you.


to reveal his Son  in me, so that I could preach him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with anyone.
