When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, ‘I am God Almighty.  Live  in my presence and be blameless.


She quickly emptied her jug into the trough and hurried to the well again to draw water. She drew water for all his camels


He said to me, “The Lord before whom I have walked  will send his angel with you and make your journey a success, and you will take a wife for my son from my clan and from my father’s family.


So he came closer and kissed him. When Isaac smelled  his clothes, he blessed him and said: Ah, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field that the Lord has blessed.


Then make me a delicious meal that I love and bring it to me to eat, so that I can bless you before I die.’


Then Jacob made a vow:  ‘If God will be with me and watch over me during this journey I’m making, if he provides me with food to eat and clothing to wear,


This stone that I have set up as a marker will be God’s house, and I will give to you a tenth of all that you give me.’


May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you  so that you become an assembly of peoples.


We must get up and go to Bethel. I will build an altar there to the God who answered me in my day of distress.  He has been with me everywhere I have gone.’


the angel who has redeemed me from all harm   – may he bless these boys. And may they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they grow to be numerous within the land.


Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine beside a spring; its branches  climb over the wall.


Yet his bow remained steady, and his strong arms were made agile by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, by the name of   the Shepherd,  the Rock of Israel,


These are the tribes of Israel, twelve in all, and this is what their father said to them. He blessed them, and he blessed each one with a suitable blessing.


These are the family records  of Noah. Noah was a righteous man,  blameless among his contemporaries;  Noah walked with God.


And Solomon replied, ‘You have shown great and faithful love to your servant, my father David, because he walked before you in faithfulness, righteousness, and integrity.  You have continued this great and faithful love for him by giving him a son to sit on his throne,  as it is today.


These were the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel. He was the firstborn,  but his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph  son of Israel, because Reuben defiled his father’s bed.  He is not listed in the genealogy according to birthright.


‘Go and assemble the elders of Israel and say to them: The Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has appeared to me and said: I have paid close attention to you and to what has been done to you in Egypt.


‘This will take place,’ he continued, ‘so that they will believe that the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.’


The sleep of the worker is sweet, whether he eats little or much, but the abundance of the rich permits him no sleep.


Here is what I have seen to be good:  It is appropriate to eat, drink, and experience good in all the labour one does under the sun during the few days of his life God has given him, because that is his reward.


All of a person’s labour is for his stomach,  , yet the appetite is never satisfied.


and whenever you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: ‘This is the way. Walk in it.’


he will dwell on the heights; his refuge will be the rocky fortresses, his food provided, his water assured.


They will be exposed  to the sun, the moon, and all the stars in the sky,  which they have loved, served, followed, consulted, and worshipped. Their bones will not be collected and buried but will become like manure on the soil’s surface.


Both were righteous in God’s sight,  living blamelessly  according to all the commands and requirements of the Lord.


So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.


Indeed, this is our boast: The testimony  of our conscience  is that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially towards you, with godly sincerity and purity, not by human wisdom  but by God’s grace.


This is the blessing that Moses, the man of God, gave the Israelites before his death.


So then, just as you have received  Christ Jesus as Lord,  continue to walk in him,


we encouraged, comforted, and implored each one of you to walk worthy of God,  who calls you into his own kingdom  and glory.


By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and he worshipped, leaning on the top of his staff.   ,
