Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh  and said, ‘God has made me forget all my hardship and my whole family.’


And the second son he named Ephraim  and said, ‘God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.’


Manasseh and Ephraim were born to Joseph in the land of Egypt. They were born to him by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, a priest at On.


Then Joseph took them both #– #with his right hand Ephraim towards Israel’s left, and with his left hand Manasseh towards Israel’s right #– #and brought them to Israel.


When Joseph saw that his father had placed his right hand on Ephraim’s head, he thought it was a mistake  and took his father’s hand to move it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s.


Joseph said to his father, ‘Not that way, my father! This one is the firstborn. Put your right hand on his head.’


Lord, your right hand is glorious in power. Lord, your right hand shattered the enemy.


Ephraim’s military divisions will camp on the west side under their banner. The leader of the Ephraimites is Elishama son of Ammihud.


Then present the Levites before the Lord, and have the Israelites lay their hands on them.


But I have taken the Levites in place of every firstborn among the Israelites.


And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church,   and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.


Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them.


After placing his hands on them, he went on from there.


‘Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward.


Then he laid his hands on her,  and instantly she was restored  and began to glorify God.


When the sun was setting, all those who had anyone ill with various diseases brought them to him. As he laid his hands on each one of them, he healed them.


Then after they had fasted, prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them off.


They had them stand before the apostles, who prayed  and laid their hands on  them.


Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom  because Moses had laid his hands on him.  So the Israelites obeyed him and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.


Don’t neglect the gift that is in you; it was given to you through prophecy,  with the laying on of hands  by the council of elders.


Don’t be too quick to appoint  , anyone as an elder, and don’t share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.
