I will confirm my covenant that is between me and you and your future offspring throughout their generations. It is a permanent covenant  to be your God and the God of your offspring after you.


The Lord was standing there beside him,  saying, ‘I am the Lord,  the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your offspring the land on which you are lying.


Look, I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. I will bring you back to this land,  for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.’


I am the God of Bethel, where you poured oil on the stone marker and made a solemn vow to me.  Get up, leave this land, and return to your native land.” ’


I could do you great harm, but last night the God of your father said to me, “Watch yourself! Don’t say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.”


The Lord said to him, ‘Go back to the land of your ancestors and to your family, and I will be with you.’


If the God of my father, the God of Abraham, the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, certainly now you would have sent me off empty-handed. But God has seen my affliction and my hard work,  and he issued his verdict last night.’


The God of Abraham, and the gods  of Nahor #– #the gods of their father   #– #will judge between us.’ And Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac.


He thought, ‘If Esau comes to one camp and attacks it, the remaining one can escape.’


by the God of your father who helps you, and by the Almighty who blesses you with blessings of the heavens above, blessings of the deep that lies below, and blessings of the breasts and the womb.


Our God, will you not judge them?  For we are powerless before this vast number that comes to fight against us. We do not know what to do, but we look to you.  ,


He said: Lord, God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven,  and do you not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations?  Power and might are in your hand, and no one can stand against you.


King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz prayed about this and cried out to heaven,


Then he continued, ‘I am the God of your father,  the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’  Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God.


‘After I had given the purchase agreement to Baruch, son of Neriah, I prayed to the Lord:


David was in an extremely difficult position because the troops talked about stoning him,  for they were all very bitter over the loss of their sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God.
