So Jacob got up and put his children and wives on the camels.


When Laban had gone to shear his sheep, Rachel stole her father’s household idols.


So Laban went into Jacob’s tent, Leah’s tent, and the tents of the two concubines,  but he found nothing. When he left Leah’s tent, he went into Rachel’s tent.


She said to her father, ‘Don’t be angry, my lord, that I cannot stand up in your presence;  I am having my period.’ So Laban searched, but could not find the household idols.


For the Israelites must live many days without king or prince,  without sacrifice  or sacred pillar,  and without ephod  or household idols.


Any saddle the man with the discharge rides on will be unclean.


He said, ‘You took the gods I had made and the priest, and went away. What do I have left? How can you say to me, “What’s the matter with you? ” ’


For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and defiance is like wickedness  and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the  Lord, he has rejected you as king.
