And the Lord said to her: Two nations are in your womb; two peoples will come from you and be separated. One people will be stronger than the other, and the elder will serve the younger.


Jacob said, ‘Swear to me first.’ So he swore to Jacob and sold his birthright to him.


So he went and got the goats and brought them to his mother, and his mother made the delicious food his father loved.


So now, my son, listen to me. Flee at once to my brother Laban in Haran,


Now, my son, listen to me and do what I tell you.


I will be responsible for him. You can hold me personally accountable!  If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, I will be guilty before you for ever.


Then the woman of Tekoa said to the king, ‘My lord the king, may any blame be on me  and my father’s family, and may the king and his throne be innocent.’


He walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother gave him evil advice.


All the people answered, ‘His blood be on us  and on our children! ’


She knelt at his feet and said, ‘The guilt is mine, my lord, but please let your servant speak to you directly. Listen to the words of your servant.
