Pharaoh’s officials saw her and praised her to Pharaoh, so the woman was taken to Pharaoh’s household.


But the Lord struck Pharaoh and his household with severe plagues because of Abram’s wife, Sarai.


but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.’


for the Lord had completely closed all the wombs in Abimelech’s household on account of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.


But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him, ‘You are about to die because of the woman you have taken, for she is a married woman.’


Early in the morning Abimelech got up, called all his servants together, and personally  told them all these things, and the men were terrified.


‘Listen to us, my lord. You are a prince of God  among us. Bury your dead in our finest burial place.  None of us will withhold from you his burial place for burying your dead.’


When David saw the angel striking the people, he said to the Lord, ‘Look, I am the one who has sinned; I am the one  who has done wrong. But these sheep, what have they done? Please, let your hand be against me and my father’s family.’


Then the king responded to the man of God, ‘Plead for the favour of the Lord your God and pray for me  so that my hand may be restored to me.’ So the man of God pleaded for the favour of the Lord, and the king’s hand was restored to him and became as it had been at first.


But Naaman got angry and left, saying, ‘I was telling myself: He will surely come out, stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand  over the place and cure the skin disease.


‘Do not touch my anointed ones or harm my prophets.’


A large number of the people #– #many from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun #– #were ritually unclean, yet they had eaten the Passover  contrary to what was written.  But Hezekiah had interceded for them, saying, ‘May the good Lord provide atonement on behalf of


God is not partial  to princes and does not favour the rich over the poor, for they are all the work of his hands.


Now take seven bulls and seven rams, go to my servant Job, and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. Then my servant Job will pray for you.  I will surely accept his prayer and not deal with you as your folly deserves. For you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.’


‘What you’re doing is not good,’ Moses’s father-in-law said to him.


He will speak to the people for you. He will serve as a mouth for you, and you will serve as God to him.


The Lord answered Moses, ‘See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother will be your prophet.


Then the Lord said to me, ‘Do not pray for the well-being of these people.


Then the Lord said to me, ‘Even if Moses and Samuel  should stand before me,  my heart would not go out to these people. Send them from my presence, and let them go.


If they are indeed prophets and if the word of the Lord is with them, let them intercede with the Lord of Armies not to let the articles that remain in the Lord’s temple, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem go to Babylon.”


If I say to the wicked person,  “You will surely die,” but you do not warn him #– #you don’t speak out to warn him about his wicked way in order to save his life #– #that wicked person will die for his iniquity. Yet I will hold you responsible for his blood.


If I say to the wicked, “Wicked one, you will surely die,”  but you do not speak out to warn him about his way, that wicked person will die for his iniquity, yet I will hold you responsible for his blood.


once he has sinned  and acknowledged his guilt   #– #he must return what he stole or defrauded, or the deposit entrusted to him, or the lost item he found,


In this way the priest will make atonement on his behalf before the Lord, and he will be forgiven for anything he may have done to incur guilt.’


‘Pray to the Lord for me,’ Simon replied, ‘so that nothing you have said may happen to me.’


The person who speaks in a tongue builds himself up, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.


Long ago God spoke  to our ancestors by the prophets  at different times and in different ways.


Marriage is to be honoured by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, because God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.


If anyone sees a fellow believer  committing a sin that doesn’t lead to death, he should ask, and God will give life to him #– #to those who commit sin that doesn’t lead to death. There is sin  that leads to death. I am not saying he should pray about that.


They pleaded with Samuel, ‘Pray to the Lord your God for your servants  so we won’t die! For we have added to all our sins the evil of requesting a king for ourselves.’


‘As for me, I vow that I will not sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you.  I will teach you the good and right way.


Samuel said, ‘Gather all Israel at Mizpah,  and I will pray to the Lord on your behalf.’


The Israelites said to Samuel, ‘Don’t stop crying out to the Lord our God for us, so that he will save us from the Philistines.’
