Lot looked out and saw that the entire plain  of the Jordan  as far as Zoar  was well watered everywhere like the Lord’s garden  and the land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)


Now the Siddim Valley contained many bitumen pits, and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some fell into them,  but the rest fled to the mountains.


The men turned from there and went towards Sodom  while Abraham remained standing before the Lord.


But Lot said to them, ‘No, my lords   #– #please.


Hurry up! Run to it, for I cannot do anything until you get there.’ Therefore the name of the city is Zoar.  ,


But Lot’s wife looked back and became a pillar of salt.


Lot departed from Zoar and lived in the mountains along with his two daughters, because he was afraid to live in Zoar. Instead, he and his two daughters lived in a cave.


Now please come and let me advise you.  Save your life and the life of your son Solomon.


Then Elijah became afraid  , and immediately ran for his life.  When he came to Beer-sheba  that belonged to Judah, he left his servant there,


Flee! Save your lives! Be like a juniper bush  , in the wilderness.


He warned the community, ‘Get away now from the tents of these wicked men. Don’t touch anything that belongs to them,  or you will be swept away because of all their sins.’


When he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees  coming to his baptism, he said to them, ‘Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?


For life is more than food and the body more than clothing.


But Jesus said to him, ‘No one who puts his hand to the plough and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.’


how will we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?  This salvation had its beginning when it was spoken of by the Lord, and it was confirmed to us by those who heard him.


Saul sent agents to David’s house to watch for him and kill him in the morning.  But his wife Michal  warned David, ‘If you don’t escape tonight, you will be dead tomorrow! ’
