Then the king of Sodom said to Abram, ‘Give me the people, but take the possessions for yourself.’


When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, ‘I am God Almighty.  Live  in my presence and be blameless.


Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, and there he called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.


and I will have you swear by the Lord, God of heaven and God of earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites among whom I live,


David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead and said to them, ‘The Lord bless you because you have shown this kindness to Saul your lord when you buried him.


But Elisha said, ‘As the Lord lives,  in whose presence I stand, I will not accept it.’  Naaman urged him to accept it, but he refused.


Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendour and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to you. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom, and you are exalted as head over all.


I will bring you to the land that I swore  , to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’


For the High and Exalted One, who lives for ever, whose name is holy,  says this: ‘I live in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and lowly of spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the oppressed.


Then I heard the man dressed in linen, who was above the water of the river. He raised both his hands  , towards heaven and swore by him who lives eternally  that it would be for a time, times, and half a time.  When the power of the holy people is shattered, all these things will be completed.


But at the end of those days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven, and my sanity returned to me. Then I praised the Most High and honoured and glorified him who lives for ever: For his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation.


‘The silver and gold belong to me’ #– #this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies.


The heavens, indeed the highest heavens, belong to the Lord your God, as does the earth and everything in it.


I raise my hand to heaven and declare: As surely as I live for ever,


When he saw her, he tore his clothes and said, ‘No! Not my daughter! You have devastated me! You have brought great misery on me.  I have given my word to the Lord and cannot take it back.’
