When Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.


Abraham said about his wife Sarah, ‘She is my sister.’  So King Abimelech of Gerar had Sarah brought to him.


When the men of the place asked about his wife, he said, ‘She is my sister,’  for he was afraid to say ‘my wife’, thinking,  ‘The men of the place will kill me on account of Rebekah, for she is a beautiful woman.’


Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker,


At the end of two years Pharaoh had a dream: he was standing beside the Nile,


Solomon made an alliance  with Pharaoh king of Egypt by marrying Pharaoh’s daughter.  Solomon brought her to the city of David  until he finished building his palace,  the Lord’s temple,  and the wall surrounding Jerusalem.


Now look, you are relying on Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff  that will pierce the hand of anyone who grabs it and leans on it.  This is what Pharaoh king of Egypt is to all who rely on him.


When Pharaoh heard about this, he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in the land of Midian,  and sat down by a well.


Pharaoh’s daughter went down to bathe at the Nile while her servant girls walked along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds, sent her slave girl, took it,


If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials will be wicked.


So it is with the one who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.


Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officers, his leaders, all his people,


There they will cry out, ‘Pharaoh king of Egypt was all noise; he let the opportune moment pass.’


‘Son of man, lament  for Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him, “You compare yourself to a lion of the nations, but  you are like a monster  , in the seas. You thrash about in your rivers, churn up the waters with your feet, and muddy the   rivers.


Marriage is to be honoured by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, because God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.
