31 Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot (Haran’s son), and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they set out together from Ur of the Chaldeans  to go to the land of Canaan. But when they came to Haran, they settled there.

The Canaanite border went from Sidon going towards Gerar as far as Gaza, and going towards Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim as far as Lasha.


Terah lived for 205 years and died in Haran.


So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.


He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated, and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan,


They also took Abram’s nephew Lot and his possessions, for he was living in Sodom,  and they went on.


He also said to him, ‘I am the Lord who brought you from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.’


The servant took ten of his master’s camels, and with all kinds of his master’s goods in hand, he went to Aram-naharaim, to Nahor’s town.


Before he had finished speaking, there was Rebekah #– #daughter of Bethuel son of Milcah,  the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor #– #coming with a jug on her shoulder.


So now, my son, listen to me. Flee at once to my brother Laban in Haran,


Jacob left Beer-sheba and went towards Haran.


Did the gods of the nations  that my predecessors destroyed rescue them #– #nations such as Gozan,  Haran,  Rezeph, and the Edenites  in Telassar?


You, the Lord, are the God who chose Abram and brought him out of Ur of the Chaldeans, and changed his name to Abraham.


That messenger was still speaking when yet another came and reported, ‘The Chaldeans formed three bands, made a raid on the camels, and took them away. They struck down the servants with the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you! ’


Did the gods of the nations  that my predecessors destroyed rescue them #– #Gozan,  Haran,  Rezeph, and the Edenites in Telassar?


By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and set out for a place that he was going to receive as an inheritance. He went out, even though he did not know where he was going.
