Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot (Haran’s son), and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they set out together from Ur of the Chaldeans  to go to the land of Canaan. But when they came to Haran, they settled there.


Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife because she was childless.  The Lord was receptive to his prayer, and his wife Rebekah conceived.


When the Lord saw that Leah was neglected,  he opened her womb;  but Rachel was unable to conceive.


And consider your relative Elizabeth #– #even she has conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called childless.


But they had no children because Elizabeth could not conceive, and both of them were well on in years.


There was a certain man from Zorah,  from the family of Dan, whose name was Manoah; his wife was unable to conceive and had no children.


He had two wives,  the first named Hannah  and the second Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah was childless.


But he gave a double  portion  to Hannah, for he loved her even though the Lord had kept her from conceiving.
