He brought me there, and I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze,  with a linen cord and a measuring rod in his hand.  He was standing by the city gate.


Next he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me round the outside to the outer gate that faced east; there the water was trickling from the south side.


Then he measured off five hundred and thirty metres and led me through the water. It came up to my knees. He measured off another five hundred and thirty metres and led me through the water. It came up to my waist.


I looked up and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand.


The declaration of the Lord: ‘I myself will be a wall  of fire round it, and I will be the glory within it.’


And look, I am sending you   what my Father promised.   As for you, stay in the city   until you are empowered   , from on high.’


Therefore, since he has been exalted to the right hand of God  and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit,  he has poured out  what you both see and hear.


Then they were all filled  with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues,  as the Spirit enabled them.


Then I was given a measuring reed  like a rod,  with these words: ‘Go  and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count those who worship there.


The one who spoke with me had a golden measuring rod  to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.
