stay in this land as a foreigner, and I will be with you and bless you.  For I will give all these lands to you and your offspring,  and I will confirm the oath that I swore to your father Abraham.


The Lord was standing there beside him,  saying, ‘I am the Lord,  the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your offspring the land on which you are lying.


Then the man of God  approached and said to the king of Israel, ‘This is what the Lord says: “Because the Arameans have said, ‘The Lord is a god of the mountains and not a god of the valleys,’  I will hand over all this whole huge army to you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.” ’


May all the peoples of the earth know that the Lord is God. There is no other!


They are your servants and your people. You redeemed them by your great power and strong hand.


‘In the future, when your son  asks you, “What does this mean? ” say to him, “By the strength of his hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.


Then Moses said to the people, ‘Remember this day when you came out of Egypt, out of the place of slavery, for the Lord brought you out of here by the strength of his hand. Nothing leavened may be eaten.


The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I receive glory through Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.’


I will harden Pharaoh’s heart so that he will pursue them. Then I will receive glory by means of Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.’ So the Israelites did this.


terror  and dread will fall on them. They will be as still  as a stone because of your powerful arm until your people pass by, Lord, until the people whom you purchased  pass by.


The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.


‘I have heard the complaints of the Israelites. Tell them: At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will eat bread until you are full. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’


So Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites, ‘This evening you will know that it was the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt,


Years later,  after Moses had grown up, he went out to his own people  and observed their forced labour.  He saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his people.


‘Therefore tell the Israelites: I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from the forced labour of the Egyptians and rescue you from slavery to them. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm  and great acts of judgement.


This is what the Lord says: Here is how you will know that I am the Lord. Watch. I am about to strike the water in the Nile with the staff in my hand, and it will turn to blood.


so that all may see and know, consider and understand, that the hand of the  Lord has done this, the Holy One of Israel has created   it.


Kings will be your guardians and their queens  your nursing mothers. They will bow down to you with their faces to the ground and lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the  Lord; those who put their hope in me will not be put to shame.


I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh, and they will be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine. Then all humanity will know that I, the Lord, am your Saviour, and your Redeemer,  the Mighty One of Jacob.’


For I am the Lord your God who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar   – his name is the Lord of Armies.


You will nurse on the milk of nations, and nurse at the breast of kings; you will know that I, the Lord, am your Saviour and Redeemer,  the Mighty One of Jacob.


He said, ‘They are indeed my people, children who will not be disloyal,’ and he became their Saviour.


You will be my people, and I will be your God.


‘Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days’ #– #the Lord’s declaration. ‘I will put my teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.


I am the Lord your God. Follow my statutes, keep my ordinances, and practise them.


Yet the number of the Israelites will be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or counted. And in the place where they were told: You are not my people, they will be called: Sons of the living God.


For I am the Lord your God,  so you must consecrate yourselves  and be holy because I am holy.  Do not defile yourselves by any swarming creature that crawls on the ground.


For I am the Lord, who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God,  so you must be holy because I am holy.


I will put this third through the fire; I will refine them as silver is refined and test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, “They are my people,” and they will say, “The Lord is our God.” ’


I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God; I am the Lord your God.’


I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?   , He   is not the God of the dead, but of the living.’


What, then, are we to say about these things?  If God is for us, who is against us?


for you are a holy people belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord has chosen you to be his own possession  out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.


And today the Lord has affirmed that you are his own possession as he promised you, that you are to keep all his commands,


so that you may enter into the covenant of the Lord your God, which he is making with you today, so that you may enter into his oath


and so that he may establish you today as his people and he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.


I led you for forty years in the wilderness; your clothes and the sandals on your feet did not wear out;


But the Lord selected you and brought you out of Egypt’s iron furnace  to be a people for his inheritance, as you are today.


For you are a holy people  belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be his own possession  out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.


But they now desire a better place #– #a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.


Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy,  but now you have received mercy.


Then I heard a loud voice  from the throne:  , Look, God’s dwelling  is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples,  , and God himself will be with them and will be their God.


The one who conquers  will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be my son.
