After these events, the word of the Lord came  to Abram in a vision: Do not be afraid,  Abram. I am your shield; your reward will be very great.


But he said, ‘Lord God, how can I know  that I will possess it? ’


stay in this land as a foreigner, and I will be with you and bless you.  For I will give all these lands to you and your offspring,  and I will confirm the oath that I swore to your father Abraham.


The Lord said to him, ‘Go back to the land of your ancestors and to your family, and I will be with you.’


‘This will be the sign  for you: This year you will eat what grows on its own, and in the second year what grows from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.


In earlier times Phinehas son of Eleazar had been their leader, and the Lord was with him.


Moses’s father-in-law, Jethro, along with Moses’s wife and sons, came to him in the wilderness where he was camped at the mountain of God.


Meanwhile, Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro,  the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb,  the mountain of God.


Then Moses asked God, ‘If I go to the Israelites and say to them, “The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,” and they ask me, “What is his name? ” what should I tell them? ’


And he replied, ‘My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’


Now go! I will help you speak  and I will teach you what to say.’


You will speak with him and tell him what to say.  I will help both you and him to speak  and will teach you both what to do.


We must go a distance of three days into the wilderness and sacrifice to the Lord our God as he instructs us.’


‘ “This will be the sign for you:  This year you will eat what grows on its own, and in the second year what grows from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.


Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.


When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you.


Therefore, the Lord himself will give you  a sign: See, the virgin will conceive,  have a son, and name him Immanuel.  ,


Do not be afraid of anyone, for I will be with you to rescue you. This is the  Lord’s declaration.


Then Moses said, ‘This is how you will know that the Lord sent me  to do all these things and that it was not of my own will:


He considers no disaster for Jacob; he sees no trouble for Israel. The Lord their God is with them, and there is rejoicing over the King among them.


teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember,   I am with you always,   to the end of the age.’


And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word by the accompanying signs.]


The Lord’s hand was with them, and a large number who believed turned to the Lord.


I will judge the nation that they will serve as slaves, God said. After this, they will come out and worship me in this place.   ,


What, then, are we to say about these things?  If God is for us, who is against us?


The Lord commissioned Joshua son of Nun, ‘Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I swore to them, and I will be with you.’


Keep your life free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for he himself has said, I will never leave you or abandon you.   ,


No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live.  I will be with you, just as I was with Moses. I will not leave you or abandon you.


Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, ‘The Lord is with you, valiant warrior.’


‘But I will be with you,’  the Lord said to him. ‘You will strike Midian down as if it were one man.’


Then he said to him, ‘If I have found favour with you,  give me a sign  that you are speaking with me.


The angel of the Lord extended the tip of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and the unleavened bread. Fire came up from the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. Then the angel of the Lord vanished from his sight.


Listen to what they say, and then you will be encouraged to attack the camp.’ So he went down with Purah his servant to the outpost of the troops  who were in the camp.


But if they say, “Come on up,” then we’ll go up, because the Lord has handed them over to us #– #that will be our sign.’
