Exodus 23:11
11 Tagairtí Cros

When the surrounding peoples bring merchandise or any kind of grain to sell on the Sabbath day, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or a holy day.  We will also leave the land uncultivated in the seventh year  and will cancel every debt.

We will impose the following commands on ourselves: To give four grams of silver  yearly for the service of the house of our God:

‘Sow your land for six years and gather its produce.

‘Do your work  for six days but rest on the seventh day so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female slave as well as the resident foreigner may be refreshed.

If you wonder, “What will we eat in the seventh year if we don’t sow or gather our produce? ”

When you sow in the eighth year, you will be eating from the previous harvest. You will be eating this until the ninth year when its harvest comes in.

Furthermore, you didn’t bring us to a land flowing with milk and honey or give us an inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you gouge out the eyes of these men?  We will not come! ’

For there will never cease to be poor people in the land;  that is why I am commanding you, “Open your hand willingly to your poor and needy brother in your land.”
