At evening, the time when women went out to draw water, he made the camels kneel beside a well outside the town.


and she bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.


And Midian’s sons were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were sons of Keturah.


He looked and saw a well in a field. Three flocks of sheep were lying there beside it because the sheep were watered from this well. But a large stone covered the opening of the well.


Hadad and his men set out from Midian and went to Paran.  They took men with them from Paran and went to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt,  who gave Hadad a house, ordered that he be given food, and gave him land.


and the other Eliezer (because he had said, ‘The God of my father was my helper and rescued me from Pharaoh’s sword’).


Now in Midian the Lord told Moses, ‘Return to Egypt, for all the men who wanted to kill you are dead.’


A sensible person sees danger and takes cover, but the inexperienced keep going and are punished.


I see the tents of Cushan  in distress; the tent curtains of the land of Midian tremble.


When they persecute you in one town, flee to another.   For truly I tell you, you will not have gone through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.


Jacob’s well  was there, and Jesus, worn out from his journey, sat down at the well. It was about noon.


‘When he heard this, Moses fled and became an exile in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.


By faith he left Egypt behind, not being afraid of the king’s anger, for Moses persevered as one who sees him who is invisible.
