Then the angel extended his hand towards Jerusalem to destroy it,  but the Lord relented concerning the destruction  and said to the angel who was destroying  the people, ‘Enough, withdraw your hand now! ’ The angel of the Lord was then at the threshing-floor of Araunah  the Jebusite.


If only you would hide me in Sheol and conceal me until your anger   passes. If only you would appoint a time for me and then remember me.


So Moses said, ‘This is what the Lord says: About midnight I will go throughout Egypt,


They must take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses where they eat them.


Go, my people, enter your rooms and close your doors behind you. Hide for a little while until the wrath has passed.


Then  the angel of the Lord   went out and struck down one hundred and eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning, there were all the dead bodies!


‘Pass throughout the city of Jerusalem,’ the Lord said to him, ‘and put a mark on the foreheads  of the men who sigh and groan  over all the detestable practices committed in it.’


Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, as well as the children and older women,  but do not come near anyone who has the mark.  Begin at my sanctuary.’  So they began with the elders who were in front of the temple.


And don’t grumble  as some of them did,  , and were killed by the destroyer.  ,


By faith he instituted the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn might not touch the Israelites.


and to Jesus, the mediator  of a new covenant,  and to the sprinkled blood, which says better things than the blood of Abel.


‘Don’t harm the earth or the sea or the trees  until we seal the servants of our God on their foreheads.’


They were told not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green plant, or any tree,  but only those people who do not have God’s seal on their foreheads.
