But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to his aid, struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, ‘You must never again go out with us to battle. You must not extinguish the lamp of Israel.’


‘Lord my God, you have now made your servant king in my father David’s place.  Yet I am just a youth with no experience in leadership.  ,


Moses was eighty years old  and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.


But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, ‘Because you did not trust me to demonstrate my holiness in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this assembly into the land I have given them.’


who will go out before them and come back in before them,  and who will bring them out and bring them in, so that the Lord’s community won’t be like sheep without a shepherd.’


‘And now I know that none of you, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will ever see me again.


‘When he was forty years old, he decided to visit his own people, the Israelites.


‘The Lord was angry with me also because of you and said, “You will not enter there either.


Then Moses continued to speak these  words to all Israel,


Moses was 120 years old when he died; his eyes were not weak, and his vitality had not left him.
