may you hear in heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel. May you restore them to the land you gave their ancestors.


for when you return to the Lord, your brothers and your sons will receive mercy in the presence of their captors and will return to this land.  For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful;  he will not turn his face away from you if you return to him.’


But if you return to me and carefully observe my commands, even though your exiles were banished to the farthest horizon,  I will gather them from there and bring them to the place where I chose to have my name dwell.’


On that day the Lord will thresh corn from the River Euphrates as far as the Wadi of Egypt, and you Israelites will be gathered one by one.


I will say to the north, “Give them up! ” and to the south, “Do not hold them back! ” Bring my sons from far away, and my daughters from the ends of the earth   –


Leave Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans! Declare with a shout of joy, proclaim this, let it go out to the end of the earth; announce, ‘The Lord has redeemed his servant   Jacob! ’


Look, the Lord has proclaimed to the ends of the earth, ‘Say to Daughter Zion: Look, your salvation is coming, his wages are with him, and his reward accompanies him.’


Watch! I am going to bring them from the northern land. I will gather them from remote regions of the earth   – the blind and the lame will be with them, along with those who are pregnant and those about to give birth. They will return here as a great assembly!


Death will be chosen over life  by all the survivors of this evil family, those who remain wherever I have banished them.’  This is the declaration of the Lord of Armies.


‘ “For I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.


He will send out his angels with a loud trumpet,   and they will gather his elect from the four winds,   from one end of the sky to the other.


He will send out the angels   and gather his elect   from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.


Then the Lord will scatter you among all peoples from one end of the earth to the other,  and there you will worship other gods, of wood and stone,  which neither you nor your ancestors have known.
