and I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and to bring them from that land to a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey   #– #the territory of the Canaanites, Hethites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.


On that day I swore  to them that I would bring them out  of the land of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey,  the most beautiful of all lands.


They said, ‘If we have found favour with you, let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Don’t make us cross the Jordan.’


‘But the Lord was angry with me because of you  and would not listen to me. The Lord said to me, “That’s enough! Do not speak to me again about this matter.
