Next, the king stood by the pillar  , and made a covenant  in the Lord’s presence to follow the Lord and to keep his commands, his decrees, and his statutes with all his heart and with all his soul  in order to carry out the words of this covenant that were written in this book; all the people agreed to  the covenant.


‘Listen to the words of this covenant  and tell them to the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.


The Lord said to me, ‘Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem: “Obey the words of this covenant and carry them out.”


This one will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt #– #my covenant that they broke even though I am their master’  ,  #– #the Lord’s declaration.


As for those who disobeyed my covenant,  not keeping the terms of the covenant they made before me, I will treat them like the calf they cut in two in order to pass between its pieces.


These are the statutes, ordinances, and laws the Lord established between himself and the Israelites through Moses on Mount Sinai.


These are the commands the Lord gave Moses for the Israelites on Mount Sinai.


You are the sons  of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your ancestors, saying to Abraham, And all the families of the earth will be blessed through your offspring.   ,


These are the words Moses spoke to all Israel across the Jordan in the wilderness,  in the Arabah  opposite Suph,  between Paran  and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth,  and Di-zahab.


The Lord will take you back in ships to Egypt by a route that I said you would never see again.  There you will sell yourselves to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy you.’


so that you may enter into the covenant of the Lord your God, which he is making with you today, so that you may enter into his oath


Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, ‘You have seen with your own eyes  everything the Lord did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials, and to his entire land.


and single him out for harm from all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this book of the law.


Then people will answer, “It is because they abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, which he had made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.


The day you stood before the Lord your God  at Horeb, the Lord said to me, “Assemble the people before me, and I will let them hear my words, so that they may learn to fear me  all the days they live on the earth and may instruct their children.”


He declared his covenant  to you. He commanded you to follow the Ten Commandments,  which he wrote on two stone tablets.


Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that he made with you, and make an idol for yourselves in the shape of anything he has forbidden you.


not like the covenant that I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt. I showed no concern for them, says the Lord, because they did not continue in my covenant.


Above all, fear the Lord and worship him faithfully with all your heart; consider the great things he has done for you.
