After a long time, the word of the Lord   came to Elijah in the third year:  ‘Go and present yourself to Ahab.  I will send rain on the surface of the land.’


Have you entered the place where the snow is stored? Or have you seen the storehouses of hail,


The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is a slave to the lender.


I will make them and the area around my hill  a blessing: I will send down showers in their season;  they will be showers of blessing.


I will give you rain at the right time, and the land will yield its produce, and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.


I  will provide rain for your land in the proper time, the autumn and spring rains,  and you will harvest your grain, new wine, and fresh oil.


Then the Levite, who has no portion or inheritance among you, the resident foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow within your city gates may come, eat, and be satisfied.  And the Lord your God will bless you in all the work of your hands that you do.


Give to him, and don’t have a stingy heart  when you give, and because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you do.


When the Lord your God blesses you as he has promised you, you will lend to many nations but not borrow; you will rule many nations, but they will not rule you.


You may charge a foreigner interest, but you must not charge your brother Israelite interest, so that the Lord your God may bless you in everything you do  in the land you are entering to possess.


The Lord will turn the rain of your land into falling  dust; it will descend on you from the sky until you are destroyed.


He will lend to you, but you won’t lend to him. He will be the head, and you will be the tail.
