22 When a prophet speaks in the Lord’s name, and the message does not come true or is not fulfilled, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

In those days  Hezekiah became terminally ill.  The prophet Isaiah  son of Amoz came and said to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: “Set your house in order, for you are about to die; you will not recover.” ’


Like a flitting sparrow or a fluttering swallow, an undeserved curse goes nowhere.


‘Let them come and tell us what will happen. Tell us the past events, so that we may reflect on them and know the outcome, or tell us the future.


Jonah set out on the first day of his walk in the city and proclaimed,  ‘In forty days Nineveh will be demolished! ’

But the prophet who presumes to speak a message in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods #– #that prophet must die.”


You may say to yourself, “How can we recognise a message the Lord has not spoken? ”


Samuel grew.  The Lord was with him,  and he fulfilled everything Samuel prophesied.  ,
