Then Jacob made a vow:  ‘If God will be with me and watch over me during this journey I’m making, if he provides me with food to eat and clothing to wear,


‘I give to you and to your sons and daughters all the holy contributions that the Israelites present to the Lord as a permanent statute. It is a permanent covenant of salt  before the Lord for you as well as your offspring.’


then the Lord your God will choose the place to have his name dwell.  Bring there everything I command you: your burnt offerings, sacrifices, offerings of the tenth, personal contributions,  and all your choice offerings you vow to the Lord.


If the place where the Lord your God chooses to put his name is too far from you, you may slaughter any of your herd or flock he has given you, as I have commanded you, and you may eat it within your city gates whenever you want.


You are to bring there your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tenths and personal contributions,  your vow offerings and freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks.
