Kore son of Imnah the Levite, the keeper of the East Gate, was over the freewill offerings to God to distribute the contribution to the Lord and the consecrated things.


Consider the people of Israel.  Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?


then the Lord your God will choose the place to have his name dwell.  Bring there everything I command you: your burnt offerings, sacrifices, offerings of the tenth, personal contributions,  and all your choice offerings you vow to the Lord.


‘But you are to take the holy offerings you have and your vow offerings and go to the place the Lord chooses.


You are to bring there your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tenths and personal contributions,  your vow offerings and freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks.


‘When you have finished paying all the tenth of your produce in the third year,  the year of the tenth, you are to give it to the Levites, resident foreigners, fatherless children, and widows, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.


I have not eaten any of it while in mourning, or removed any of it while unclean, or offered any of it for the dead.  I have obeyed the Lord my God; I have done all you commanded me.


Whenever Elkanah offered a sacrifice, he always gave portions of the meat  to his wife Peninnah and to each of her sons and daughters.
