4 The administrators and satraps, therefore, kept trying to find a charge against Daniel  regarding the kingdom. But they could find no charge or corruption,  for he was trustworthy, and no negligence or corruption was found in him.

and he said to them, ‘Can we find anyone like this, a man who has God’s spirit  in him? ’


But the men were afraid because they were taken to Joseph’s house. They said, ‘We have been brought here because of the silver that was returned in our bags the first time. They intend to overpower us, seize us, make us slaves, and take our donkeys.’


An unjust person is detestable to the righteous, and one whose way is upright is detestable to the wicked.


I saw that all labour and all skilful work is due to one person’s jealousy of another.  This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.  ,


Then certain ones said, ‘Come, let’s make plans against Jeremiah,  for instruction will never be lost from the priest,  or counsel from the wise, or a word from the prophet.  Come, let’s denounce him  and pay no attention to all his words.’


But you, Lord, know all their deadly plots against me. Do not wipe out their iniquity; do not blot out their sin before you. Let them be forced to stumble before you; deal with them in the time of your anger.


For I have heard the gossip of many people, ‘Terror is on every side! Report him; let’s report him! ’ Everyone I trusted  watches for my fall. ‘Perhaps he will be deceived so that we might prevail against him and take our vengeance on him.’


Pursue the well-being  of the city to which I have deported you. Pray to the Lord on its behalf,  for when it thrives, you will thrive.’


Some Chaldeans  took this occasion to come forward and maliciously accuse  , the Jews.


did this because Daniel, the one the king named Belteshazzar, was found to have an extraordinary spirit, knowledge and intelligence, and the ability to interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve problems.  , Therefore, summon Daniel, and he will give the interpretation.’


My God sent his angel  and shut the lions’ mouths; and they haven’t harmed me, for I was found innocent before him. And also before you, Your Majesty, I have not done harm.’


and they conspired to arrest Jesus in a treacherous way and kill him.


For he knew it was because of envy that they had handed him over.


They  watched closely  and sent spies  who pretended to be righteous,  so that they could catch him in what he said,  to hand him  over to the governor’s  rule and authority.


They were not able to catch him in what he said in public, and being amazed at his answer, they became silent.


The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to put him to death,  because they were afraid of the people.


Pilate went outside again and said to them, ‘Look, I’m bringing him out to you to let you know I find no grounds  for charging him.’


But I will continue to do what I am doing, in order to deny  an opportunity to those who want to be regarded as our equals in what they boast about.


so that you may be blameless  and pure,  children of God who are faultless  in a crooked  and perverted  generation,  among whom you shine like stars in the world,


Therefore, I want younger women to marry,  have children, manage their households, and give the adversary no opportunity to accuse us.


Your message is to be sound beyond reproach,  so that any opponent will be ashamed, because he doesn’t have anything bad to say about us.


Conduct  yourselves honourably among the Gentiles,  so that when they slander you as evildoers, they will observe your good works and will glorify God on the day he visits.


Yet do this with gentleness and reverence, keeping a clear conscience,  so that when you are accused,  those who disparage your good conduct in Christ will be put to shame.


Now his father and mother did not know this was from the Lord,  who wanted the Philistines to provide an opportunity for a confrontation.  At that time, the Philistines were ruling Israel.


‘You haven’t wronged us, you haven’t mistreated us, and you haven’t taken anything from anyone,’ they responded.


and continued to be successful in all his activities because the Lord was with him.


Ahimelech replied to the king, ‘Who among all your servants is as faithful as David?  He is the king’s son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard, and honoured in your house.
